Mastering the Six Inches Between Your Ears: Why I Co-Founded the Mental Game Golf Club

For decades, golfers at every level have openly acknowledged that the mental game is the most important part of playing better golf. We have all heard the cliche that the game is played in the six inches between your ears, yet the reality is that the vast majority of golfers have never intentionally practiced or developed their mental game as part of their golf journey.

This is why I am incredibly proud to share my role as the co-founder of the Mental Game Golf Club (MGGC). We created this club to solve a specific problem: the stagnation that occurs when a golfer’s technical ability outpaces their mental performance. You can invest heavily in swing changes and physical skills, but without a structured way to train your mind, progress eventually stalls. MGGC is here to provide that structure.

We intentionally designed MGGC to be a club, not just another static online course or app. A club implies membership, identity, and ongoing involvement. This assessment provides a snapshot of your current mental performance, resulting in a score from 1 to 100. This is not a judgment of your talent; it is a baseline reference point that informs exactly where you should begin your learning. Every month, you retake the PPS to track your growth and see which areas of your mental game still require attention.

The Power of the Looped Curriculum

One of the biggest mistakes in golf development is treating the mental game as a one-time crash course. In a linear model, you finish a lesson and never look back, which means those skills rarely hold up under the heat of a Sunday afternoon round.

MGGC uses a looped curriculum logic. Our seven core modules are designed to be revisited and practiced, the same way you practice all the other parts of your golf game. Repeating assignments and challenges is the act of practicing the mental game itself. This structure ensures that your mental skills remain sharp and evolve as your game reaches new levels.

We believe that elite mental training should not be reserved for those with massive budgets. We have positioned our core membership at only 49 dollars per month, making it significantly more accessible than a single traditional golf lesson.

I have been primarily self taught in the past 5 years. Personally I feel more value in trusting my own knowledge and opinions on the golf swing. I find it comforting to know my own swing and my specific set of different feels. I work off ball flight and tie the results back to my swing to make connections. No two swings are the same, so I focus on my own movements through feel and getting the most out of my swing. I strategically dive in and out of recording my swing and using video analysis.
